Common European Framework
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF) was developed by the Council of Europe as an instrument for measuring language ability. The CEFR focuses on the four primary language skills:
- listening
- reading
- spoken interaction
- writing
Each of these skills is assessed according to six different competency levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Dutch Language Centre uses the CEFR during intake interviews for assessing participants` starting and target proficiency levels. Click here to see an overview of the CEFR.
